The British Peanut Council is not a contract-issuing body. FOSFA International performs this function and their contracts are widely used in the trade when required. The BPC is a Trade Association member of FOSFA, and the two Associations work very closely together on matters of mutual interest, especially in the contractual and legislative fields. The BPC also enjoys close ties with the American Peanut Council and the European Nut Association.

The BPC promotes and protects its members' interests in the legislative and technical fields of operation, both in the UK and the European community. The Council is consulted directly by the relevant authorities in Britain on matters affecting our members as well as the Food Standards Agency, other Ministries are involved from time to time. The association liaise with other organisations within the European Community on matters of mutual interest involving legislation emanating from Brussels.
